Learn how to access unconscious material through intuitive art making and how to integrate its contents.
What:
You will learn ways that art making can support you in exploring and experiencing your life with greater depth and meaning, and how to use a creative practice as a guide on your journey.
Expressive art allows us to learn how to let go of control and dominating thought, it allows us to get in touch with deeper layers of ourselves and to honor what else we hold inside of us.
We will also explore how intuitive art images and images that appear in dreams share similar qualities, and how making art from dream material can allow for deep engagement with oneself.
The unconscious holds a lot of wisdom and material still unknown to us that can help balance our conscious attitudes. One only has to open up to it and go looking.
For who:
You do not need any prior experience with art!
Everyone can do this. The aim is to explore and to create from within, not to become a perfect technician. Any inner resistance is just natural. We will use painting, but other media are also available; you may choose. You may keep all the artworks you make.
This is for you if you
- seek deeper meaning in life,
- aim to learn how to let go of thinking and control,
- are interested in exploring a way of making art that encourages self-exploration,
- are curious about reviving inner childlike creativity and play.
- It is also beneficial for mental healthcare providers to experience how art can be incorporated into healing practices.
How:
In weekly sessions of 3 hours, we will learn together about some important depth-psychological concepts as cornerstones to our exploration. Then we dive into meditative, intuitive art making together and complete the sessions with reflections.
The program is structured in a way that everyone can work and learn in their own rhythm, and that exploration can happen in ways that are natural to you.
This program is facilitated in accordance with the safety framework of group therapy and necessary psychological safety to establish a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment.
